What is Occupational Therapy?

Occupational therapy is a support service that focuses on assisting individuals with special needs and/or disabilities to achieve client-centered goals related to functional participation within the context of various communities across environments.

In pediatrics, this often looks like developing play skills and/or school-related skills for successful participation in learning, exploration, and developing relationships. Pediatric occupational therapy services may be offered in a variety of settings, such as the home environment, school environment, day care environment, and other community settings (e.g. clinical setting).
